International seminar on preparation to Kazakhstan’s OSCE chairmanship opened in Almaty

ATY. September 21. KAZINFORM /Serik Koibagarov/ International seminar "Participation of the Kazakhstani ethnos in socio-political life; the role and efficiency of advisory bodies: experience of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan" was opened in Almaty within the preparation to the Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship by the initiative of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan.

Deputy Chairman - Head of the Secretariat of the Assembly Yeraly Tugzhanov, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Knut Vollebaek, Head of the Sami Parliament of Norway Rune Fjellheim, members of the scientific-expert council of the Assembly, representatives of the local and republican state bodies, ethno-cultural unions, experts in the field of interethnic issues take part in the seminar.

Opening the seminar Director of the Kazakh Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bulat Sultanov expressed hope that the experience of Kazakhstan in strengthening of the accord between different nations will be useful for all OSCE member states.

According to the organizers, the event will be an important step in development of approaches to Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship next year and definition of the format of interaction of the Assembly with the OSCE institutions.
