International commission will investigate case on Georgian Education Ministry and Trade Union

TBILISI. June 22. KAZINFORM A special "International Education" commission will arrive in Tbilisi June 22 in connection with the Georgian Education Ministry's intervention in activity of the Free Trade Union of the Georgian teachers and scientists, as well as preparing the mass dismissal of teachers, Kazinform refers to Trend News.

According to the Free Trade Union, in parallel with preparations for the mass dismissal of teachers the Ministry of Education has declared open war on the union and prohibited the school principals to transfer the membership fees at the expense of the organization.

"This was followed by a negative reaction of the international community. In this connection, Director General of International Education has appealed to the Georgian President, the Prime Minister and other members of the Government and demanded to put an end to such facts.

"International Education is an international organization of teachers, which brings together 30 million people and 403 organizations from 173 countries, among them there is the Free Trade Union of teachers and scientists of Georgia" the joint venture said and added that a special committee of the organization will arrive in Georgia June 22 to investigate the situation on the spot.


During the visit, committee members will meet with the head of the EU mission in Georgia Prier Eklund, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations, members of the Georgian Parliament and the leadership of the Free Trade Union of teachers and scientists.
