Injured Gay out of U.S. championships 100m

EUGENE, Oregon. June 25. KAZINFORM U.S. sprinter Tyson Gay has pulled out of the 100m race at the U.S. Athletics Championships on Saturday with an injury, the AFP said. Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
That means that he will not be competing in the event at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, in August.
Gay, who owns the fastest 100m in the world this year of 9.79 seconds, had been expected to be one of the main challengers to Jamaican world record-holder Usain Bolt in South Korea.
He pulled out of the 100m shortly before the semi-finals. He remained entered in the 200m, scheduled to start on Saturday, but it was unclear if he would be able to compete. Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.xinhuanet.com
