Ingushetia leader pledges to fight corruption, gunmen
"I don't want to take revenge, but those gunmen who will not lay down arms will be destroyed," the president said after he was discharged from hospital after an attempt on his life in June.
"If somebody decides to surrender, to lay down arms, he will not be sentenced unlawfully. I personally assume control of that. But those who don't surrender and lay down arms will be destroyed," he stressed.
Yevkurov said his policy will "remain as it was on the whole, but maybe it will become more tough, including as concerns corrupt officials". According to the president, the attempt on his life was organized by gunmen, and he stressed that he intended "to continue a special operation jointly with Chechen law enforcement agencies".
He said he planned to get back to work in a week if medics allowed him. In reply to reporters' first queries about how he feels, he said "Perfect. You can see it". As for medics treating him at Vishnevsky Surgery Institute, he said they were "experts"; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
