Indonesian quake generates low tsunami wave

VLADIVOSTOK. April 7. KAZINFORM The magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit the Sumatra coast on Wednesday has generated a several-dozens-centimetre tsunami wave, head of the Sakhalin Tsunami Centre Tatiana Ivelskaya said referring to the Pacific Tsunami Centre, Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
According to Ivelskaya, "the tsunami has a local character."
The earthquake was registered near the northern coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra at 05:15 Greenwich time (02:15 Moscow time). The quake focus at the depth of 46 kilometers was located 205 kilometers off the city of Sibolga, 230 kilometers off the city of Medan and 525 kilometers of the Indonesian capital of Kuala-Lumpur.
