India supported Kazakhstan's candidacy for non-permanent membership in UN Security Council

ASTANA. April 16. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ India has supported Kazakhstan's candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for the period of 2017-2018. This is stated in a joint statement issued after the talks between Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"The sides confirmed the need to strengthen the UN role in international affairs, and consider the organization as a universal tool in ensuring equal relations of UN members, as well as in strengthening security and stability in the world," the statement reads.

Kazakhstan reiterated support for the candidacy of the Republic of India as a permanent member of the UN Security Council. The parties agreed to provide mutual support in the UN and other multilateral forums.
