BAKU. October 1. KAZINFORM. India has offered Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) to open direct flights between Azerbaijan and India, Indian ambassador to Azerbaijan Debnat Show said; Kazinform refers to Today.Az.
"Azerbaijan and India have a very promising opportunity to develop tourism sector. But this is possible only after direct flights are opened," the ambassador told reporters at a meeting dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi.
He said AZAL has not made a concrete decision yet.
"The fact is that all airline companies in the world are experiencing difficult times due to the economic crisis. It is quite difficult to persuade a company to open new flights and spend funds for it," he said; Kazinform cites Today.Az.
