"The total number of standards in the country is more than 4 million units. Among them harmonized with international standards are more than 3 million, accounting for 72% of the total amount, " said Sh.Kazybaeva at a roundtable in Astana. Theme of the meeting is "Accreditation: promoting world trade", and it focused on the World Day of accreditation.
As beleived by Sh.Kazybaeva, conformity assessment of products to national and international standards is the responsibility of the institutions involved in conformity assessment and the testing laboratories. A competence of such bodies and laboratories, in turn, is confirmed by the single authorized body. In Kazakhstan, this function is performed by the National Accreditation Center. For the development of standards in the republic there are 50 standard committees.
