Improving living standards - paramount task for the decade: Nazarbayev

ASTANA. January 29. KAZINFORM. /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Improving living standards and social protection of all groups of the population is the most important task for the coming decade. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said it in his annual address to the nation today.

"The state will create all necessary conditions for increase in the country's population by 10% by 2020. The main priority of the state social policy will be increasing the employment rate. Therefore I set a new task: the level of unemployment should not exceed 5% by 2020; the proportion of the population with incomes below the subsistence minimum should not be more than 8%", the Head of the State noted.

"By 2015 the base pension payment should be increased to 60% of the subsistence minimum, the size of state social allowances should be increased 1.2 times as compared to 2010", N. Nazarbayev added.
