Implementation of Kazakh National Human Rights Action Plan - in spotlight of participants of OSCE Review Conference in Warsaw
The Kazakh delegation consisting of officials and representatives of private sector informed the session participants of the course of implementation of 2009-2012 National Human Rights Action Plan in Kazakhstan having highlighted importance of ratification of the Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights by Kazakhstan in June 2009. This step allowed the citizens to send individual messages to the UN Human Rights Committee. It was also noted the Kazakhstan had joined more than 60 international human rights protection treaties.
The meeting participants expressed also interest in the results of a sociological research conducted by the Centre of Local Self-Administration Development of the East Kazakhstan oblast. According to these data, over 83% respondents in the region are aware of Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship. More than 70 respondents are positive on the current socio-political situation and find it quite favorable.
