II Mining and Metallurgy Congress to make positive contribution to development of Kazakhstan's mining and metallurgy industry - Professor of Istanbul Technical University
For what purpose did you come to the II Mining and Metallurgy Congress in Kazakhstan?
At the Forum I made a report on coal technologies. Coal is very important source of energy, because oil and gas will end up someday, and coal will remain, it is necessary only to use it cleaner. Kazakhstan is a very large country, which is bigger than Turkey by 3.5 times, and I think that Kazakhstan has more resources. It has a lot of coal as well. Kazakhstani coal is very valuable. Your republic should more use coal resources, but use effectively.
How do you estimate the country's metallurgy industry development?
Kazakhstan needs not only to supply raw material to the market, but work upon introduction of high technologies and manufacture of HVA product. In this context, I am impressed by your Government's position. Your country adopts very good programs, including on industrial development. In Turkey at the beginning foreigners developed gold deposits, but then we trained our own specialists, and now the domestic companies are engaged in this sphere. For this purpose, first of all, it is necessary to organize the education system. Our country has a lot of technical higher education institutions and they are engaged in training of specialists needed for this industry.
What can you say about the Astana Forum?
Hosting the events of international concern is a right element. Hence it is a dialog platform, people meet here, agree, and develop necessary issues. It is very important for Kazakhstan as a dynamically developing country to create such platforms. I am confident that this forum will make its positive contribution to further development of the mining and metallurgy complex of your country.
Have you ever been to Astana?
No, this is my first trip to Astana. Turkey knows a little about your city, and I plan to write an article about Astana.
Your capital is young and beautiful, and the President's decision on the capital's removal is very wise.
Thank you for the interview!
