ASTANA. March 1. KAZINFORM "This year Kazakhstan will mark the 80th Holodomor anniversary," President Nursultan Nazarbayev told today addressing the students of the Nazarbayev University.
"Our nation has gone through too many bad things. This year we will mark the 80th anniversary of the Holodomor. Almost 40% of the Kazakhs died of hunger over the period of 1929-1933. Kazakhstan would have been then the country with the population up to 45-50 mln," the President said.
