IAEA to select country to place nuclear fuel bank in autumn

ASTANA. February 21. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ The International Atomic Energy Agency will select a country to place the nuclear fuel bank in autumn 2011. Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies Duisenbai Turganov has made it public at a session of the committee on economic and regional policy of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament today.
"The IAEA is developing the criteria to aspirant countries now. The aspirant countries will submit their applications after familiarizing with the requirements", he said.
According to D.Turganov, the application will be considered by the IAEA within three months. In the nest three month the Agency will hold talks with the selected country.
"An agreement on the fuel storage will be signed with the country by September-October", the Deputy Minister said.
