Year of Kazakhstan in Germany to give impulse to bilateral relations: Nazarbayev

ASTANA-AKORDA. February 4. KAZINFORM A program of the Kazakh President?s working visit to Germany began with participation of the Head of State in the Kazakh-German economic forum. Delivering a speech to representatives of business circles of the two countries, the Kazakh President noted that bilateral relations defined by progressive dynamics; Kazinform refers to the President?s press service.
On initiative of the German leadership the EU Strategy for Central Asia was elaborated and now under implementation. Germany supports Kazakhstan in the upcoming chairmanship in the OSCE in 2010. Joint plans and tasks of the countries were reflected in the Joint partnership announcement for the sake of the future signed in September, 2008.
Germany joins a number of the largest economic partners of Kazakhstan. Over 540 enterprises are created in Kazakhstan with participation of the German capital. The volume of investments in the Kazakh economy forms about USD 3.5 bln. Such world known companies like ?Volkswagen?, ?Siemens?, ?Daimler?, ?Bosch? and etc. function in the Kazakh market.
The Head of the State emphasized that Kazakhstan is interested in extension of cooperation with the German business, in particular, in the sphere of engineering, agriculture and food industry.
Nursultan Nazarbayev met with outstanding political figure of Germany, ex-Vice Chancellor of Germany, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Hans-Dietrich Genscher. The sides discussed political and economic situation in the world.
Within the meeting with Federal President of Germany Horst Kohler prospects of strengthening of bilateral relations were discussed. Besides, the Presidents exchanged opinions on a wide range of international issues.
Within the visit President Nursultan Nazarbayev had a working dinner with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
Kazakhstan is interested in an initiative of the German leader on elaboration of new rules, which will allow to regulate the world economy, and creation of the World Economic Council under the auspices of the UN. The German side, in its turn, studies an initiative of the Kazakh President on necessity of creation of a unified world currency.
A culmination of the visit became an opening of ?The Year of Kazakhstan in Germany? by Nursultan Nazarbayev. An agreement on its holding was reached within a state visit of Federal President H.Kohler to Kazakhstan in September, 2008.
A program of ?The Year of Kazakhstan in Germany? consists of political meetings at a high level, economic forums, scientific conferences, cultural-humanitarian and educational projects.
Delivering a speech at the opening ceremony, President N.Nazarbayev expressed his confidence that ?The Year of Kazakhstan in Germany? will give an impulse to bilateral relations, lay foundation to a new stage of mutual cooperation and bring together the Kazakh and German nations.
