Humanitarian aid from Kazakhstan arrives in Tajikistan

An official ceremony of handing over humanitarian aid from Kazakhstan to the Tajik side took place in Dushanbe, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Tajikistan Valikhan Turekhanov handed over a certificate for 15,000 tons of oil fuel to Deputy Director of the Tajik Government’s Agency on State Material Reserves Sohibjon Ziyodulloyev.

“In line with the Kazakh President’s instruction, it was decided to provide humanitarian aid to the Republic of Tajikistan to the amount of 2 billion 542 million tenge ($5.65 million) for a stable functioning of the country’s important energy facilities,” said the Kazakh Diplomat.

The humanitarian aid was delivered under the auspices of KazAID Kazakhstan Agency for International Development and became the country’s contribution to ensuring energy security and manifestation of the strategic relations between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.

Kazakhstan has supplied more than $50 million worth humanitarian aid to Tajikistan since 2006.
