Hu Jintao's visit to give new impetus to Kazakh - Chinese cooperation in strategically important spheres

The President of Kazakhstan noted that Hu Jintao made great contribution to the development of strategic partnership between our two countries. Besides, Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that economic rise in China had a positive impact in the entire Central Asian region. In particular, the GDP growth since the beginning of the year reached 8.3 percent. The trade turnover between these two countries is rising as well and it is expected that this year pre-crisis rate amounted to USD 17 mln will be reached. In foreign trade of Kazakhstan for 2009 it was USD 14 mln. In turn, for Kazakhstan China is the second important trade partner after Russia in the CIS.

The President also reminded that in the hardest period of world financial crisis Kazakhstan had received a USD 10 bln loan from China .

'We have completed the construction of 'Kenkiyak - Kumkol' oil pipeline. Last year the volume of Kazakhstan's oil shipment to China increased by 28 percent which amounted to about 8 million tons. Our corresponding agencies are to sign an agreement on constructing the second part of 'Beineu - Bozoy - Shymkent' gas pipeline and on the further expansion of 'Central Asia - China' gas pipeline, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

During the negotiations Nursultan Nazarbayev and Hu Jintao discussed many issues on further development of bilateral relations. In particular, they agreed on revision of the plan on development of cooperation in non-oil sectors of the economy and its further realization. That is expected to be the base for the development of two countries in the sphere of industrial-innovative technologies.

'We pay great attention to transport and transit cooperation between our countries. Construction of 'Western China - Western Europe' road and 'Khorgos - Zhetygen' railway prove it. These are very important projects of our cooperation', Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The President also emphasized the relevance of the agreement between two countries on supply of grain from Kazakhstan to China and its transit through Chinese territory to other countries. He emphasized that the development of the cooperation would lead to great prospects.

According to Nursultan Nazarbayev this visit of Hu Jintao will be a historic event in the development of friendly, good-neighborly, respective relations between our countries in many spheres.

Kazakhstan and China are actively interacting in many international organizations such as the UN and SCO. China supports Kazakhstan's foreign initiatives, including the CICA and Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The cooperation between the Parliament of Kazakhstan and National People's Congress of China are developing.

'I appreciate these productive negotiations with President Hu Jintao. The atmosphere of the meeting reflects our neighborly, trusting relations between our countries. Our business partnership has entered a new level of practical realization of joint projects', the President said.

The President also reminded that as a result of the negotiations held during his visit to Beijing in April, 2009, big infrastructural projects are realized in Kazakhstan now. These are construction of Moynak GES, Pavlodar electrolysis plant, Aktau road bitumen production plant, a complex for production of aromatic hydrocarbons at Atyrau oil processing plant, reconstruction of oil 'PetroKazakhstan Oil Products' processing plant and construction of the largest gas-chemical complex for the production of polypropylene in Kazakhstan.

Hu Jintao praised economic and political development of Kazakhstan.

During the negotiations the parties agreed on deepening economic and investment cooperation, expanding structural mutual trade. Kazakhstan and China are going to strengthen interaction in the sphere of energy, peaceful use of atom, petroleum chemistry, transport, agriculture, border trade and in the sphere of import of Kazakhstan's grain and agricultural equipment to China. The issues on rational use and protection of cross-border water resources were discussed as well.

Besides, one of the points in the agenda was security in Central Asia, in particular, the situation in Kyrgyzstan and humanitarian assistance to Kyrgyz people from the SCO.

Within the framework of the visit a Joint Communique was adopted between Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China. Agreements on peaceful use of atomic energy, on engineering, financing, constructing and use of the second sector of 'Kazakhstan - China' gas pipeline were signed as well as an agreement between Kazatomprom JSC and China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation on trade of uranium concentrates. was concluded
