The national peacekeeping contingent which includes 139 troops and 26 units of military equipment has been deployed to the Golan Heights since March 2024, as part of the UN mission, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The goal of the mission in the Golan Heights is to maintain ceasefire between Israel and Syria as well as supervision and control over separation of the Israeli and Syrian forces, Deputy Minister of Defense Shaikh-Khassan Zhazykbayev says.
“For its participation in the abovementioned mission, Kazakhstan receives around $5 million annually from the UN, $2.4 million of which are the payments to personnel, and the remaining $2.6 million are the payments for the rent of equipment, weapons and property,” Shaikh-Khassan Zhazykbayev noted.
Monthly payments for each peacekeeper were approved at $1,448, he added.
