Home alone: Little boy killed in apartment fire in Ekibastuz

Nadezhda Engel left her son Rinat, 6, sleeping at home and went to see her neighbor. When she came back, her two-bedroom apartment was on fire. The blaze engulfed furniture, curtains and the ceiling. 11 firefighters were summoned to the scene to extinguish the fire. Afterwards, they found Rinat's lifeless body in the debris. Paramedics rushed his mother to a local hospital. The woman is still reeling in shock.
