High levels of sickly exhalations likely to cause sleeping dropsy in Kalachi
The working group analyzed the results of ecological research, medical records of those addressed for medical care, examined the people living in the Kalachi and Krasnogorsky villages, the statement reads. As earlier reported, about 7,000 research have been carried out starting from March 2013 to find out what caused the sleeping dropsy in Kalachi. It is noteworthy that the disease occurs early December and early March. The research showed neither increase in critical concentration of radiation background nor salts of heavy metals. Bacteriological and virological analyses were also negative. Relying on the results obtained the working group made a preliminary conclusion that high concentration of effluvium gathered during the heating season in basements and poorly ventilated home may cause the disease. All the materials were submitted to the interdepartmental commission under the Environment and Water Resources Ministry. The National Nuclear Centre experts continue their studies in the region.
