Hepatitis A on the rise in Kazakhstan

850 cases of acute viral hepatitis A that is 1.9 times more as compared to 2023 were recorded in Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year, the Kazakh Healthcare Ministry’s press service reports.
It can be transmitted through eating contaminated food or water or unwashed hands. The virus symptoms include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, weakness, and loss of appetite. The period of incubation of hepatitis A ranges from 14 to 35 days. People can be contagious even before symptoms appear.
Hepatitis can be prevented with a vaccine. It is 95% effective in preventing chronic infection development.
