At the beginning of his speech, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that this dialogue platform, created under the auspices of the Astana International Forum, serves to exchange ideas on the most pressing global and regional issues.

President Tokayev stressed that Kazakhstan will continue to defend the voices of middle powers in international forums, including the UN Security Council.

“We would like to see a more inclusive and sustainable international system. States, no matter how big or small, should be able to contribute to building a better world. Kazakhstan is ready to continue to consistently play an active role on the world stage. We are at the intersection of diplomacy, economic cooperation and multilateral governance. Through our influence, which we exercise together with our colleagues and partners, we can significantly shape the future world. We do not want to be indifferent observers in this changing international order, on the contrary, we strive to become the architects of a more balanced, fair and sustainable global system,” says President of Kazakhstan.

In this context, the Head of State once again spoke about the issue of resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

“As I said during the talks with Chancellor Scholz, Russia is militarily invincible. This is a fact confirmed by Russia’s military potential, the support of the country’s population for President Putin’s policy, and history itself. Therefore, we consider it necessary to look for options for a peaceful settlement and support the realistic plans of all states, including China and Brazil. There is no other way. The alternative is a war of mutual extermination. Perhaps some world powers are interested in this, but this is a path to the abyss. The desire for peace through constructive negotiations is not a sign of weakness, but an expression of strategic prudence,” says Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

In September of this year, during the official visit of the Federal Chancellor of Germany to Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the request of Chancellor Olaf Scholz, spoke about the settlement of the situation around Ukraine. According to him, the possibility of achieving peace still exists.
