Head of State gives instructions to Minister of Health

ASTANA. October 30. KAZINFORM - The Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev has received the Minister of Health Salidat Kairbekova, the press-service of the President reports.

Kairbekova reported to the President on the status and priorities of the country's health system development as well as the main results of the Ministry's activities over the past year.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the importance of further work on reduction of maternal and infant mortality as well as the adoption of systematic measures to improve health and increase life expectancy in Kazakhstan.

The Minister spoke about the results of the implementation of "Salamatty Kazakhstan" 2011-2015 State Programme for health development.

Thus, for the first 9 months of 2013, compared to the same period of 2012, maternal mortality decreased by 24%, infant mortality rate decreased by 17%.

Following the meeting, the Head of State has given a number of specific instructions aimed at improving the health of the nation and creating of competitive health care system.
