Head of State: Commissioning of ‘Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran’ railroad is a landmark event for the Eurasian region

ASHGABAT. KAZINFORM - Commissioning of "Uzen-Bereket-Gorgan" railroad is a landmark event for the entire Eurasian region, said President Nursultan Nazarbayev during the negotiations in an expanded format with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

"There are great prospects for cooperation in the transport sector. We attach great importance to the commissioning of "Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran" railway line. Tomorrow we are together with our Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani will participate in the official opening ceremony of the railway's section," said the President. Kazakhstan's President stressed that the launch of the line will open up new opportunities for our countries and increase the flow of goods in both the northern and southern direction. Recall that Kazakhstan has fully complied with the commitments made by the Joint Declaration, which was signed by the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran on October 16, 2007. December 3, 2014 it is planned to open the Turkmen-Iranian (Bereket - Gorgan) section of the railway "Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran" (928 km). The ceremony will be participated by the heads of the three states. Construction of the Kazakhstan (146 km) and Iran (82 km) sections of the railroad has been completed.
