Head of Kazakh Human Rights Commission met with OSCE/ODIHR Director

ASTANA. May 14. KAZINFORM. Kazakh delegation headed by Chairman of the Commission on Human Rights under the President of Kazakhstan, Majilis deputy Saginbek Tursunov met with OSCE/ODIHR Director Janez Lenarcic in Poland yesterday; Kazinform refers to the Majilis?s press service.

Mr. Turssunov told about main directions of Kazakhstan?s state policy on development of democracy and human rights through elaboration of ?Road to Europe? government program, National Plan in the sphere of human rights for 2009-2012, opening of the Digital Library on Human Rights. Speaking about improvement of the national legislation, the Majilis deputy noted that Kazakhstan?s political and democratic reforms as well as its integration into the world legal space represented a background of principal reforms in human rights system of the country. ?Kazakhstan is considered as a leader in Central Asia on implementation of human rights system?, Mr. Lenarcic said. The diplomat appreciated activity of the Human Rights Commission under the President of Kazakhstan and Digital Library. He approved the National Plan in the sphere of human rights and Basic Report on Human Rights.
