ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Finalist of the 2014 Gagarin Cup HC Lev Praha will miss the upcoming season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) due to funding problems, the club's press service says.
"After lengthy negotiations, we now have to unfortunately announce that HC LEV Praha will not participate in the 2014/2015 KHL season, because the club failed to secure the necessary funding to continue operating the team at the same level," shareholders Petr Speychal and Yevgeny Myshkovsky said in a statement. The decision, however, does not rule out the possibility of the KHL returning to Prague in the future. The Prague-based club reached the Gagarin Cup finals this season succumbing only to HC Metallurg from Magnitogorsk. The next KHL season will kick off on September 4 and is set to run until April 2015.
