KIRKUK. April 27. KAZINFORM Gunmen shot dead two students and wounded another outside a college dormitory in the city of Kirkuk in northern Iraq on Tuesday, a provincial police source said, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
"Unidentified armed men in a car opened fire on students while they were leaving the dormitory of the College of Education in the city of Kirkuk, some 250 km north of Baghdad, killing two students and wounding another before they fled the scene," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Iraqi security forces sealed off the area and launched an investigation about the incident, while ambulances transferred the victims to a city hospital, the source said.
Kirkuk is one of the disputed areas between the Kurds and both Arabs and Turkmans. The area has long been the hotbed of insurgency since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.xinhuanet.com
