Grodno hosts meeting of Belarus-Kazakhstan commission on trade & economic coop

MINSK. August 29. KAZINFORM - Today, Grodno hosts the tenth meeting of the Belarus-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, Kazinform learned from BelTA.

The Belarusian part of the commission is chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusyi, the Kazakh one by Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Bozhko. On behalf of Belarus’ Foreign Ministry the meeting will be attended by First Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Mikhnevich.

“During the meeting the sides are set to discuss the cooperation in industry, agriculture and energy, transport and logistics, and also interregional and scientific and technical cooperation,” informed the press service.

The commission will review the status of implementation of the action plan 2012-2013 to the program of economic cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus for 2009-2016 (the roadmap to the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation in 2012-2013).

The Commission to be attended by representatives of business communities of Belarus and Kazakhstan.

In terms of export Kazakhstan is the third most important partner of Belarus among CIS countries (Russia and Ukraine). In 2012, the volume of the Belarus-Kazakhstan trade in goods and services exceeded $1 billion. Bilateral merchandize trade amounted to $924.8 million, up by 14.5% from 2011. The Belarusian export to Kazakhstan made up to $805.9 million, up by 19.6%. In January-June 2013 the trade totaled $421.7 million.

Belarus’ major exports are tractors and truck tractors, tires, milk and dairy products, harvesting machines, trucks, furniture, meat and meat products, sugar, medicines.
