Greenpeace urges 3 EU nations to shut 12 nuclear reactors immediately

BRUSSELS. August 19. KAZONFORM International environmentalist group Greenpeace has urged three nations in the European Union to shut down 12 nuclear reactors immediately on the grounds that EU tests to assess the safety of reactors have overlooked their flaws.
The 12 reactors are in the Belgian locations of Doel and Tihange, in the British location of Wylfa and in the French locations of Fessenheim and Gravelines, according to a report released by Greenpeace, Kyodo reports.
The European Union implemented the "stress tests" last year to check resilience of 143 nuclear reactors at power plants in the European Union to earthquakes and flood conditions to avert a crisis similar to the one that pounded Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in 2011.
