Green economy in the spotlight of VI Astana Economic Forum

ASTANA. May 4. KAZINFORM Within the framework of the VI Astana Economic Forum the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan will hold a joint panel session "Industrial revolution - transition to the green economy", the ministry's press service reports.

The theme of green economy has generated intense interest among Kazakhstani and international experts, international and non-governmental organizations and public associations.

Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov, Vice Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Madina Abylkassymova, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Noeleen Heyzer and Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Wilhelm Molterer are expected to attend the panel discussions.

Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Sven Alkalaj will serve as the moderator of the meeting.

The session will mainly focus on the characteristics of green economy, obstacles on the way of its development, the best international practices and other relevant topics.
