Great responsibility imposed on Oil and Gas Ministry - Nazarbayev

During the meeting Karabalin reported to Nursultan Nazarbayev on the activities of the Ministry in the areas of oil and gas, petrochemical industry and ensuring transportation of hydrocarbons.

In addition, the sides talked about the issues associated with large objects, including Kashagan, Tengiz and Karachaganak. Particular attention was paid to the need of taking into account the best interests of the country in the Tengiz project, as well as the development of future deposits.

The President noted the need for further development of the oil and gas industry, which is the strategic one for Kazakhstan.

"To date, the process of preparing the start of oil production at Kashagan field is being conducted in accordance with the plan. The Ministry of Oil and Gas has been imposed a great responsibility. I am sure that its work will be improved, increasing its effectiveness. The Ministry also needs to work closely with counterparets from neighboring countries to exchange experience and technologies ", said the President of Kazakhstan.

In turn, Uzakbai Karabalin informed about the positive dynamics of the industry.

"In the first half of 2013, oil and gas condensate production was 40 million tons, accounting for 101.8% of the corresponding period in 2012. Production of natural and associated gas is also in accordance with the planned schedule. Plans for the export of oil and gas production as a whole have been met, the individual indicators will be aligned to the end of the year ", stated the minister of oil and gas.

Karabalin also said about the work at the site called Zhambyl of Kazakhstan's Caspian shelf.

Following the meeting the Head of State has given a number of specific assignments.
