Governments of U.S. and Kazakhstan continue cooperation against transnational crime
This Amended Letter of Agreement (ALOA) ensures the continued cooperation between the Embassy's International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) program and the Government of the Republic of Kazakstan on such initiatives as strengthening border security, and countering drug trafficking, drug abuse, trafficking in persons and money laundering.
The Embassy has cooperated with the Government of Kazakstan since the signing of its first Memorandum of Understanding in December 2002. Previous successful projects have included enhancing the Government of Kazakstan's expertice on collection of crime statistics collection and forensic analysis.
The U.S. Government has allocated $425,000 within the present supplementary protocol - the eighth signed since 2002 - to further collaborate in the areas of fight against illegal trafficking of narcotics, drug demand reduction, countering human trafficking, and border security; Kazinform has learnt from the US Embassy in Astana.
