Government to regulate prices for socially important food products

ASTANA. May 11. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ The Government will take the prices for socially impotant foods under its control, Zhanar Aitzhanova, Minister of Economic Development and Trade said at the Cabinet's session today.
According to her, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament considers at present the bill on regulation of trade activity. In conformity with the document, the Government is given the authority to set maximum allowable retail prices for specified types of socially important foods for the period not exceeding 45 days in case if the growth in prices makes 30% per month.
If the law enters into force, the Government will have a mechanism for influencing the prices for socially important food products, the Minister added.
