Government's steps on E-government introduction

In 1998 the Commission for work coordination on formation and development of national information infrastructure and activity on key directions of information security of Kazakhstan was created. Representatives of the state bodies, who supervise the IT issues, were in its structure.

In 2000 the Communication and Informatization Committee, which played the strategic role in regulatory framework formation, was created in the structure of the Ministry of Transport and Communication.

In 2003 the Kazakh Government took decision on reforming of the Communication and Informatization Committee of the Ministry of Transport and Communication. The authorized body on implementation of the state policy in the sphere of informatization and communication - the Kazakh Agency for Informatization and Communication - was created on its basis.

 Then the work on creation of the regulatory framework was continued. The new Law of Kazakhstan "On communication" was adopted, the state program of the E-government formation in Kazakhstan for 2005-2007 was elaborated and approved, and the same program for 2008-2010.

 In 2000 the National Information Technologies CJSC was created.

 In 2008 National Infocommunication Holding "Zerde" was created.
