Government allocates 1 billion tenge to help flood victims of Karaganda rgn

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Government will allocate 1 billion tenge to help the population of Karaganda region affected by flooding, this has been announced by head of Emergency Response Alexey Sovetov.

"Taking into account the difficult situation in Karaganda region first Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan instructed the state agencies to allocate from the emergency reserve of the Government 1 billion tenge. The funds will be allocated for the affected population of Karaganda region," said A.Sovetov during the briefing in Astana. He noted that today Bakhytzhan Sagintayev together the deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, chairman of the committee on Water Resources, as well as regional governors is circling around the affected areas. Meanwhile, according to his words, preventive measures and rescue operations are being carried out in flood hazard areas of the region. "Due to the increase in water level of Nura River more than 7,300 residents of 20 settlements have been evacuated. More than 10,000 heads of livestock have been removed to a safe place," he added.
