Google unveils the first tablet in its history, Nexus 7
As it was announced, it is a seven inch tablet, smaller than iPad, with a powerful quad-core Tegra-4 processor. It costs 200 dollars, becoming a direct competitor to Amazon's Kindle Fire and only an indirect competitor to iPad, which costs 500 dollars and dominates unchallenged the top sector of the market. Nexus seven is equipped with the latest Android software, 4.1 Jelly Bean, that can transform speech into text.
The new Google tablet, whose Ram is one gigabyte and has a 1289X800 resolution, weighs 340 grams, a little less than Kindle. It is available in two versions, 8 or 16 GB, which cost 199 and 249 dollars respectively. No version can be connected to a mobile phone network. The tablet, "specifically built for Google Play", as it was underlined during the launch, has a 1.2 megapixel camera and a battery that can work for 8 hours "if it is actively used" and 9 hours if used as a video.
