Golovkin visits LA 2028 Games Organizing Committee

President of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin has paid a working visit to the Organizing Committee of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles (USA), Kazinform News Agency learned from the NOC press service.

The sides discussed a number of important issues such as Olympic infrastructure and conditions for the athletes competing in the Games, as well as the opportunities for cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States in sports.

Gennady Golovkin expressed confidence that the upcoming Games will become an important milestone in sports history and will contribute to strengthening the international sports ties.

“We thank the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles for their time and providing comprehensive relevant information regarding the multi-sport event. The visit to the Organizing Committee confirms our readiness for fruitful cooperation” said he.

The delegation of Kazakhstan surveyed the key infrastructure facilities that will be used during the competition, including the Olympic Village and sports arenas.

In turn, the representatives of the Organizing Committee also shared their experience in organizing major sporting events, giving special attention to the innovations integrated into this process.

The world's former middleweight champion in professional boxing Gennady Golovkin was elected as the President of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee in February 2024, the post previously held by Timur Kulibayev.

Later in May, Golovkin was appointed a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Olympism365 Commission

In September, he was appointed the Chair of the World Boxing Federation’s new Olympic Committee.

In October, he shared his vision of the future of Olympic boxing with IOC President Thomas Bach
