Global telemedicine system to be launched in Astana

"The global telemedicine system will be launched as late as the 3rd quarter of this year. Thanks to this system we will be able to consult patients using best practices of the cancer centers of the University of Pittsburgh," K.Alibek said. 

He also said that the work on establishment of a cancer center in Astana was presently underway. 

Pre-project planning of the center establishment has already been started. Presently, all centers of the National Medical Holding are quantifying their opportunities for expansion and plan to start working before the construction of the center is completed. "We plan to open a new oncology department for 60 beds in our center soon," the head of the Emergency Care Center said.

Besides, scientific researches are currently conducted as well. "These are joint Kazakh-American research projects on development of new methods of treatment and introduction of methodologies developed in the USA," K.Alibek said.

As earlier reported, in his recent Address to the Nation, the President instructed to address the issues regarding establishment of a new national scientific cancer center on the basis of the national Medical Holding in Astana.
