Girl, 9, falls through ice, dies in Kostanay

KOSTANAY. KAZINFORM - A 9-year-old girl has died after falling through ice on the Tobol River in Kostanay, officials say.
A passerby heard a child screaming for help on Thursday evening near the bank of the Tobol River. It turned out that two children - a boy and a girl were playing on the river. Thin ice gave way and the girl fell through ice. Her friend tried to help her but with no luck. The passerby who heard the boy screaming pulled the girl's body out of the hole in the ice and gave her CPR, but it was too late. Paramedics pronounced the poor child dead at the scene. The girl's body was taken for autopsy. The boy was rushed to the nearest hospital. There was no immediate word on his health condition.
