German official and Kazakh Education Ministry Secretary discuss modernization of Kazakh-German University facilities

ASTANA. July 31. KAZINFORM /Aigul Turysbekova/ - Michael Zenner, Commissioner for Communication & Public Diplomacy of the German Foreign Office and Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Farkhad Kuanganov met in Astana to discuss the issues of further modernization of Kazakhstani-German University based in Almaty, the press service of Germany Embassy in Kazakhstan informed.
The Kazakhstani-German University was founded in 1999 and provides higher education under the German educational standards. For today this is the only German University in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
As part of the international initiative of the Federal Office of Environmental Protection it was suggested to introduce energy saving system in the University as an example and renewable power sources. There also lies a big potential to export German know-how and equipment into Central Asia. It was also suggested to enlarge the building footage in order to ensure seismic resistance and energy saving.
It was agreed in the course of the meeting set up a Kazakh-German work group to make further analysis and develop the idea
