German embassy guard killed, UNICEF employee kidnapped in Yemen

SANAA. October 7. KAZINFORM - In Yemen, a German embassy guard has been killed and a UNICEF employee kidnapped, in separate incidents in the capital Sanaa.
A security source says two unidentified gunmen tried to kidnap the guard, a German national, as he left a supermarket in a diplomatic vehicle on Sunday. They killed him when he resisted, and then fled in a car.
Other sources report a separate incident--armed tribesmen abducted a UNICEF employee in a northwestern suburb of Sanaa. The employee was in his car with a Yemeni driver. Armed assailants pushed the driver out of the vehicle and sped away in the car with the UN agency employee.
