Gennady Golovkin named Athlete of the Year in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan has proudly named WBA (Super) and WBC (Interim) boxing champion Gennady Golovkin as the Athlete of the Year.
The Kazakhstani boxer topped the online poll conducted by the ministry with 44,95% of votes. Bronze medalist of the Sochi Winter Olympics figure skater Denis Ten grabbed the second spot with 32,17% of votes. 8,93% of respondents voted for two-time Olympic champion Ilya Ilyin placing him third. The poll ran from 2 until 16 January 2015. Recall that Gennady Golovkin will have his next bout against Martin Murray on February 21 in Monaco.
