GDF SUEZ E&P exploits innovation technologies in developing Khvalynskoye field, Didier Holleaux

Mr Holleaux, how do you assess prospects for Kazakhstan's innovation development?

The project that GDF SUEZ E&P is developing in Kazakhstan, the Khvalynskoye field, is located on the Caspian Sea, on the border of Russia and Kazakhstan. By the virtue of the fact that the project is a hard-to-get gas condensate field, the company exploits innovation technologies to curtail expenditures. I am confident that jointly with Kazakhstani operators, also Lukoil and Total companies we will further work on improvement of innovation technologies.

How effective is innovation cooperation in oil and gas sector?

Given the energy producers require huge investments they are ready to develop innovations allowing them to work more efficiently, spending less means for the development of fields, so on. That's why I think the companies' readiness to implement innovations is a pacing factor in the oil and gas business, especially, in the Asian one. And the innovations, as a rule, are co-developed by several companies, and when you propose your operator a good idea, when his partners know about it, they start using those technologies in other areas. Thereupon, development of innovations is of great significance for the oil and gas sector.
