“Future of Civilizations and Strategy of Civilization Development” workshop held in New York

ASTANA. November 2. KAZINFORM The Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the United Nations together with the Permanent Mission of Russia to the UN held workshop "Future of Civilizations and Strategy of Civilization Development" devoted to the issues of the global energy-ecological crisis.

Presentation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev's book "Strategy of the global community's radical renewal and partnership of civilizations" was held within the workshop.

The moderator of the discussion was corresponding members of RAS, Director of the Institute of Economic Strategies Boris Kuzyk.

Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vitaliy Churkin noted in his welcome address that the necessity of distinct vision of the prospects for the humanity development based on the long-term scientific forecast and proving economic, social and cultural development is particularly acute during the period of global socio-economic stresses. He also stressed that the state support represented by its strong leader is very important in such conditions, laying emphasis on the role of the Kazakh President in holding analytical researches at on of the most important branches of forecasting - energy-ecological.

Kazakh Permanent Representative to the UN Byrganym Aytimova noted that "Global outlook - Future of Civilizations by 2050" developing by 50 scientists from 12 countries of the world is the theoretical base of the Global Energy Strategy. She proposed to discuss the Global energy-ecological strategy at the Earth Summit in 2012 and addressed the UN leadership a request to render technical and expert assistance in further development of the Global energy-ecological strategy.

UN Under-Secretary-General Sha Zukang noted that the leaders of countries and international organizations must find common innovative solutions of the socio-economic problems of the world. Sha Zukang said that all regions of the country must activate usage of science and technology in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015.

Upon the results of the workshop the participants put forward a set of recommendations, stressing the topicality of scientific tasks of long-term energy-ecological forecast and fundamentality of approaches to the civilizations' partnership formation, set by the Kazakh Head of the State.
