France sets date for presidential elections

PARIS. May 12. KAZINFORM French voters will go to the polls next April to elect a president, the country's Council of Ministers said Wednesday; Kazinform refers to CNN.
If no one wins a majority in the first round on April 22, the top two finishers will go to a run-off on May 6, 2012.
President Nicolas Sarkozy is eligible to run for re-election.
