France's Peugeot Citroen recalls 97,000 cars in Europe

PARIS. February 1. KAZINFORM French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen said Monday that it would recall 97,000 cars produced in a Czech plant it shared with Japanese auto giant Toyota due to potential defect in accelerator pedals, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

The recall was made after Toyota's announcement on Friday to pull back millions of cars worldwide because of faulty accelerator pedals.

The two models to be recalled, the Peugeot 107 and the Citroen C1, were both developed by Toyota and assembled at a factory in the Czech Republic -- the only plant jointly owned by PSA and Toyota.

The French group said the move would affect less than 10 percent of the above models in circulation in Europe, and customers concerned would receive written notification soon, Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.news.xinhuanet.com
