Forecast reserves of bauxites in Kazakhstan estimated at 800 mln tons

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Forecast reserves of bauxites in Kazakhstan are estimated at 809 million tons, according to the Committee of Geology and Subsurface Resources Management under the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies.
"The forecast reserves of bauxites in Kazakhstan are estimated at 809 million tons. The reserves are mainly concentrated in the Turgai bauxite province - nearly 340 million tons," Chairman of the committee Bazarbai Nurabayev said. In his words, the most promising high-quality P1 and P2 reserves of bauxites are estimated at 506 million tons and are located in the Central-Turgai province. Over the past 10 years Kazakhstan channeled more than $14 million into exploration of bauxite deposits.
