For Kazakhstan cooperation with the Czech Republic is important - Senate Chairman

ASTANA. November 19. KAZINFORM - Chairman of the Senate K.Tokayev met with a delegation of the Czech parliamentarians headed by the Deputy President of the Senate of the Czech Republic, the former Speaker of the House Premysl Sobotka, the press service of the Senate informs.

The Czech delegation is staying with a visit in Kazakhstan in order to promote inter-parliamentary relations, exchange of experience of legislative activity, as well as expansion of bilateral cooperation in the industrial, agricultural and transport sectors.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of Kazakh-Czech cooperation. Mr.Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan's cooperation with the Czech Republic was important both bilaterally and in the framework of the strategic partnership with the European Union. In his view, the legislative bodies of our two countries are actively involved in strengthening the mutually beneficial cooperation, especially in the context of the agreements and understandings reached during the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to Prague in October 2012. He stressed the importance of cooperation in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and requested the support of Kazakhstan's candidacy for election to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member in 2017-2018.

Mr.Sobotka stressed, Kazakhstan is a priority partner of the Czech Republic. The member of the Parliament said about the intention of the Czech Republic to actively participate in the international exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana.

The prospects of inter-parliamentary relations were discussed in detail during the meetings of the Czech deputies with the deputies of the Senate's Standing Committees on economic development and entrepreneurship, environment and rural development, as well as international relations, defense and security.

During the visit the delegation of the Czech Senate will hold a meeting with the ministries of industry and new technologies, agriculture, transport and communications, and "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" JSC. The deputies will also visit the East Kazakhstan region, which cooperates with the Czech Pilsner.
