Five Central Asian states, Japan sign agreement on cooperation

BISHKEK. KAZINFORM Five Central Asian countries and Japan signed a cooperation agreement, particularly in the agricultural sector, for 10 years in the fifth Central Asia plus Japan Dialogue here on Wednesday.

The document was signed by foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Japan, which took part in the multilateral meeting, Xinhua reports.

The ministers discussed further cooperation in various fields, border control issues, and exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and other international and regional issues.

At the end of the meeting, Turkmenistan took over chairmanship of the dialogue from Kyrgyzstan.

The dialogue turns its first decade this year since its establishment. The previous meetings at the level of foreign ministers were first held in 2004 in Astana, and 2006 in Tokyo, 2010 in Tashkent and 2012 in Tokyo again, respectively.
