First Wind Power Plant to be built in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. May 2. KAZINFORM - "First wind power plant" LLP (100% subsidiary of «Samruk-Green Energy» LLP) and the Eurasian Development Bank have reached an agreement on opening a line of credit in the amount of KZT 14.2 billion (tenge) for financing the "turnkey" construction project of the first major Kazakhstani wind power plant (WPP) with a capacity of 45 MW at the site of Yereimentau in the Akmola region. It was reported by the Department of Public Relations of "Samruk-Energo".

According to the report, the project of WPP construction is the first step towards the introduction of alternative energy, namely the use of wind energy which will reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. Electric power generation amounting to more than 172 million kWh a year without consuming fossil fuels will save more than 60 million tons of coal and increase the reliability of electricity supply in the region.

"This project is a" pioneer " in realization Nursultan Nazarbayev’s Address "Kazakhstan-2050" Strategy ": a new policy of the established state" , which is related to saving more than half of the total energy consumption in the country at the expense of alternative and renewable energy.

"As part of the upcoming EXPO-2017, the exhibition objects are supposed to be power supplied by the energy generated via “Yreimentau WPP", the press-service of "Samruk-Energo" JSC informs.
