First Vice PM U. Shukeyev charged to solve situation with unreasonable rise in bread prices in southern regions

ASTANA. July 17. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ Today at the Government's telephone conference First Vice Prime Minister Umirzak Shukeyev has charged the Agency for Competition Protection to solve the problem of unreasonable rise in bread prices in South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl regions together with the local authorities.

"According to some reports, southern regions of the country face rise in prices for foods in particular for bakery products despite absence of reasons for it", U. Shukeyev said.

In turn, Minister of Agriculture Akhylbek Kurishbayev informed of increase in prices for flour by KZT 2 for high-grade flour and by KZT 3 for first-grade flour countrywide over the last month.

He also added that prices for bread in South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl oblasts rose by KZT 5 - KZT 7 for a loaf.

The Minister charged the akims of the regions and the Competition Protection Agency to take pricing bread under control and eliminate intermediaries as well as to use the Prodcorporation's grain.

U. Shukeyev also charged to involve the Financial Police for checking the situation and solving it.

The results of this work will be reported on Tuesday at the Cabinet's telephone conference.
